Notice, waiting, duration, and filing

Written notice

Report immediately. Failure to give the employer written notice within 30 days may jeopardize benefits.

Waiting period

The first three disability days are generally unpaid; they become payable after more than 14 consecutive days off work.

Temporary duration

TTD generally continues until return to work or maximum medical improvement. TPD cannot exceed 100 weeks.

Formal claim

Generally two years from injury/death or last payment; potentially three years when the employer fails to timely report.

Medical treatment and travel

The employer generally selects the authorized provider and must furnish treatment reasonably required to cure and relieve the injury’s effects. Independent unauthorized treatment may not be paid, subject to statutory exceptions and disputed-care procedures.

The Division’s current chart lists 69.5¢ per mile for the July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027 period and 67¢ for the preceding period. Preserve appointment dates, origin and destination, purpose, miles, and submission records. Mileage eligibility and the controlling date should be confirmed with the carrier or Division.

Permanent partial schedules and other figures

Missouri § 287.190 assigns scheduled weeks to body parts and 400 weeks to the body as a whole. A PPD calculation generally combines the injury-date PPD rate, scheduled weeks, and medical disability percentage. The official chart also lists a maximum of 40 weeks for disfigurement.

These figures do not determine impairment, causation, future medical rights, Second Injury Fund eligibility, settlement value, or attorney fees. Permanent total and survivor claims require separate factual and legal analysis.

Do not use the TTD maximum for PPD.

For the current period, the official PPD maximum is $678.18, while TTD, PTD, and death use $1,294.71.
