Hawaii TTD generally pays two-thirds of AWW

When a work injury causes temporary total disability, the weekly rate is generally 66⅔% of accepted AWW. For 2026, the statutory range is $310 to $1,240. If the worker’s AWW is below the minimum, the rate equals the AWW instead of being increased above actual wages.

Official annual limits supported

Injury yearMinimumMaximum
2026$310$1,240
2025$298$1,192

The minimum equals 25% of the annual maximum under the current statutory schedule. The calculator uses only years supported by current official DCD publications.

Three waiting days and medical certification remain separate

TTD generally excludes the first three calendar days of temporary total disability. The rate also depends on a qualifying work injury and medical support that the worker cannot perform the job. This calculator estimates the weekly amount only and does not count payable dates.

Temporary partial disability uses a different formula based on two-thirds of the difference between pre-injury AWW and later weekly earnings. It is explained in the guide but deliberately omitted from this calculator because claim-specific treatment of the annual minimum can require adjudication.

This estimate is not Hawaii TDI

Workers’ compensation covers qualifying job injuries. Hawaii Temporary Disability Insurance is a separate program for non-work disabilities and uses a different percentage and maximum. Do not substitute the TDI figure shown in the same annual DCD notice for the workers’ compensation maximum.

Can TTD exceed the worker’s AWW?

Not under the low-wage rule used here. If AWW is below the minimum, the estimate equals AWW.

Does the tool apply the three waiting days?

No. It calculates a weekly rate; actual certified disability dates control payment.

Why are only 2025 and 2026 offered?

Those are the annual official DCD notices incorporated and tested in this release.
