TTD and TPD use different dependent rules

TTD generally starts at 66⅔% of accepted AWW. Its floor is $45 plus $20 for a dependent spouse and $20 for each dependent child under 18, up to four children. That floor cannot exceed the worker’s AWW or the injury-date maximum.

TPD instead starts at 66⅔% of the difference between pre-injury AWW and the wage the worker is able to earn after injury, then adds the qualifying dependent amount, subject to the state maximum.

Utah changes its maximum every July 1

Jul. 1, 2023–Jun. 30, 2024$1,230

The injury date fixes the applicable state average weekly wage. The calculator supports injuries from 2024 through 2026.

Waiting days are not deducted from TPD

No TTD compensation is generally payable for the first three calendar days after the injury. If total disability extends beyond 14 calendar days, those three days become payable. The days need not be consecutive and the waiting period is established only once. Utah’s official guide says this waiting period does not apply to TPD.

The calculator estimates a weekly rate only and does not count disability days.

Duration and claim facts still matter

Temporary total and partial disability are generally limited to 312 weeks and may not continue more than 12 years from injury. Return to work, medical stability, ability to earn, concurrent employment and reductions can materially change a claim.

Can the TTD minimum exceed a low AWW?

No. The official guide limits the dependent minimum to the worker’s accepted AWW and the state maximum.

Are dependents added to every TTD calculation?

No. For TTD they define the minimum floor; for TPD the official formula adds the allowance to two-thirds of wage loss.

Does the tool decide work capacity?

No. The wage the worker is able to earn after injury is a claim-specific factual determination.
