TTD and TPD use different limits

Alabama TTD generally equals 66⅔% of average weekly earnings. For injuries from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, the minimum is $335 and the maximum is $1,219. If the worker’s AWW itself is below $335, the official guide says to pay 100% of AWW instead of forcing the minimum.

TPD generally equals 66⅔% of the difference between pre-injury and post-injury earnings, subject to the state maximum. The Department describes TPD as lasting no more than 300 weeks.

TTDAWW × 66⅔%, then applicable limitsTPD(AWW − post-injury wage) × 66⅔%

AWW and waiting days

The Department generally describes AWW as W-2-reportable earnings for the 52 weeks before injury divided by 52, with alternative treatment when employment was shorter. Enter the claim’s accepted AWW or compare supported scenarios.

Temporary benefits have a three-day waiting period and start on the fourth disability day. If disability lasts as much as 21 days, the first three days are added to the first installment due after that point.

Limitations

This estimate does not establish coverage, employee status, notice, compensability, accepted AWW, authorized restrictions, MMI, payable days, permanent impairment, offsets, credits, medical benefits, settlement value, or a court result.

Why are there two 2026 rate periods?

Alabama adjusts the minimum and maximum every July 1, so the injury date controls.

Can the TTD result be below $335?

Yes. If AWW is below the minimum, the low-wage rule pays 100% of AWW.

Does the TTD minimum apply to TPD?

This tool does not force it onto TPD; the Department describes TPD as two-thirds of the wage difference subject to the maximum.
