Colorado TTD and TPD formulas
Colorado TTD generally pays 66⅔% of average weekly wage when an authorized treating physician takes the worker completely off work or gives restrictions the employer cannot accommodate. For injuries from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, the weekly maximum is $1,464.12.
TPD generally pays 66⅔% of the difference between the pre-injury AWW and reduced post-injury weekly earnings. The same injury-period maximum applies. The tool keeps the two routes separate so reduced hours are not treated as complete wage loss.
Rate periods and wage evidence
Colorado resets the maximum every July 1. A 2026 injury can therefore use $1,396.85 through June 30 or $1,464.12 from July 1. The maximum is 91% of the Colorado state average weekly wage; it does not mean every worker receives that amount.
AWW can depend on wage history, concurrent employment, fringe benefits such as lost health-insurance contributions, and other claim-specific evidence. Use the AWW accepted by the carrier or Division, or compare documented scenarios.
Waiting shifts and limitations
The Division states that respondents do not pay wage-loss benefits until three shifts have been missed. That waiting period is reimbursed when the worker misses more than two weeks because of the injury. The calculator estimates a weekly rate, not the number of payable days or a first check.
It does not decide coverage, employee status, written notice, compensability, accepted AWW, medical authorization, restrictions, safety or intoxication reductions, offsets, MMI, permanent impairment, settlement value, or an order.
Why are there two maximums during 2026?
Colorado’s annual order takes effect July 1, so the injury date determines which period applies.
Does Colorado have a general TTD minimum?
The annual order publishes the TTD/TPD maximum but no general temporary-disability minimum. A separate minimum applies to death benefits, not ordinary TTD.
Does the calculator determine AWW?
No. Enter the AWW established for the claim or a supported estimate based on wage records.
