Nebraska TTD generally pays two-thirds of AWW

Temporary total disability applies when a compensable injury temporarily prevents the employee from working. The starting formula is 66⅔% of the legally established average weekly wage, subject to the minimum and the maximum for the calendar year of injury. For 2026 injuries, the Nebraska Workers’ Compensation Court publishes a maximum weekly income benefit of $1,166.

TTD66⅔% × AWW, within the applicable limitsTPD66⅔% × (pre-injury wage − post-injury earning power)

The $49 TTD minimum has an important exception. If the worker’s entire weekly wage was below $49, compensation equals that full wage rather than increasing it to $49.

Partial disability uses earning power, not automatically take-home pay

For disability partial in character, Nebraska calculates 66⅔% of the difference between wages at injury and the employee’s earning power afterward, capped by the annual maximum. Actual post-injury wages may be evidence of earning power, but the legal figure can depend on employability, restrictions and the available labor market.

The $49 total-disability minimum is not imposed on this partial-disability calculation. A small wage loss may therefore produce a legitimate weekly result below $49.

2025$1,130$49

The maximum is tied to the calendar year of injury. A later increase does not automatically replace the original ceiling.

What this estimate cannot decide

The tool assumes that the entered wage and earning-power figures are legally accepted. It cannot decide employee status, compensability, notice, medical restrictions, the correct wage period, loss of earning capacity, scheduled-member benefits, maximum medical improvement, vocational rehabilitation, offsets, duration or a court award.

When can TTD begin?

Indemnity begins on the eighth calendar day after a seven-day waiting period. If disability continues for six weeks or longer, the waiting week becomes payable after six weeks have elapsed.

How long can partial disability continue?

Section 48-121 generally limits nonscheduled partial disability to 300 weeks, reduced by weeks of total disability when total disability is followed by partial disability.

Does the calculator determine permanent scheduled loss?

No. Scheduled-member compensation uses the statutory schedule and medical findings, not merely the temporary wage-loss inputs shown here.
