Maryland fixes maximum compensation as of January 1 each year. The applicable injury-year rate remains relevant even if the award or payment occurs later.
Permanent partial schedules and tiers
Scheduled examples
- Thumb: 100 weeks
- Index finger: 40 weeks
- Hand: 250 weeks
- Arm: 300 weeks
- Foot: 250 weeks
- Leg: 300 weeks
- Eye: 250 weeks
Payment tiers
- Less than 75 weeks: one-third AWW, 16.7% SAWW cap
- 75–249 weeks: two-thirds AWW, one-third SAWW cap
- 250 weeks or more: serious-disability enhancement and 75% SAWW cap
- Other cases: statutory 500-week framework
The Commission determines impairment, industrial loss, apportionment, award weeks, and the applicable tier. The temporary calculator does not estimate permanency.
